Tumblr Music: Album Review
Apr 2, 2025
Nine Vicious is an emerging artist with a distinct style and confidence. His first release appeared on SoundCloud in July 2022, but his presence on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music only began in October 2024 with U Fancy, a track paying homage to Drake’s 2009 song Fancy. This theme of homage is central to Nine’s branding, every project he has teased or released so far mimics an iconic album cover from a mainstream Pop or Hip-Hop artist. His album Studio Addict mirrors Michael Jackson’s Bad, his EP B4TM references Prince’s self-titled project, and his latest release, Tumblr Music, pays tribute to Tupac’s All Eyez on Me.
Nine’s influences extend beyond cover art. His entire aesthetic and persona seem to channel Young Thug, leading to speculation that they might be related, though this remains unconfirmed. There are also rumors about him signing with YSL, fueled by hints from the label and its artists, such as 1300Saint.

However, the biggest issue with Tumblr Music is that it tries too hard to be a Young Thug project. While Nine captures some of Thug’s swagger and charm, the execution feels forced and, at times, pretentious. The production, featuring producers like 406ahmed, Patrick, and Jwade, is a standout, but much of it feels wasted on Nine’s often unlistenable vocals and edgy, sometimes corny, lyrics on tracks like Margiela Steppin, Clout Demons, X and Instagram, and Anti You.
That said, the album does have a few highlights. Tracks like Sp5der, Take Me Down, and Beastmode stand out as the most polished and original, despite Beastmode being divisive due to its pitched-up vocals. These songs showcase Nine’s potential when he focuses on refining his sound.
Ultimately, while I can see Nine Vicious’s vision, this project was a miss. He has the talent to create great music, but next time, I hope to hear a project that truly reflects his identity. We support you, Nine. Now give us a real Nine Vicious album.
