Nettspend VS. 2Hollis

Sep 19, 2025

Swaggy white boys with blonde hair? Rising artists Nettspend and 2Hollis have, for whatever reason, been compared a fair amount online even though their music doesn’t sound at all similar. Despite the comparisons, or maybe because of them, the two artists have never been seen together in person. Earlier this year, 2Hollis even refused to answer when asked what he thought of Nettspend. The purpose of this article is not to say that one of these artists is better than the other. Instead, it points out their similarities in growth and associations in the underground sphere that are made even more interesting by the fact that they have not met.

Followers:
It’s hard to trust really any online metric in music right now because labels artificially inflate the followers and listeners of their artists, so feel free to take all of this with a grain of salt. As of Sept. 17, 2025, Nettspend currently sits at 612k Instagram followers while 2Hollis is just ahead with 624k followers. Even though Nettspend has archived a bunch of his posts, both artists tend to get around 100k to 200k likes on a post. On SoundCloud, Nettspend has more followers with 136k and 2Hollis has 120k. No one really pays attention to SoundCloud followers but they tend to be less boosted by labels.

Spotify listeners:
Yes, Spotify’s “monthly listener” system has proven time and time again to be deeply flawed and easily manipulated by bots. However, this is an interesting metric to show because it is definitely where Nettspend and 2Hollis’ numbers differ the most. It is also important to note that, as of writing this, 2Hollis is about to go on tour and Nettspend released a single less than a month ago. Things like this do play a factor in Spotify listeners. Anyway, 2Hollis currently has quite the lead with 4.1 million monthly listeners whereas Nettspend has 1.1 million. Despite the difference, these types of milestones for (formerly?) underground artists deserve applause.

Unit sales:
Unit sales are another form of measurement that has recently been a point of contention because of botting, Young Thug being the most recently caught offender. It also does not help that seemingly no one has any understanding of how the system works in an age where no one goes out and buys albums. The RIAA standard is: 1 album sale = 1,500 song streams. With all that being said, Nettspend’s most recently released album “Bad Ass Fucking Kid” debuted at No. 197 on the Billboard 200 and sold approximately 9.2k units the week of Dec. 6, 2024. 2Hollis’ album “Star” released April of this year and although not reaching the Billboard 200, it still managed to hit No. 11 on Billboard’s Top U.S. Dance Albums. “Star” sold approximately 5k units in its first week.

Label/associations:
Both “Star” and “BAFK” were major-label releases under the esteemed Interscope Records. If you go to the Interscope website and click on their artist section, 2Hollis is the first person (alphabetically) listed and Nettspend is pretty easy to find just a few scrolls down. Nettspend was even spotted last week with Noah Dillon of The Hellp, who directed the music videos for 2Hollis’ “Crush” and most recently, “Flash.” Interesting indeed.

Two artists with completely different sounds and upbringings in the same space with similar rates of growth. Will Nettspend and 2Hollis ever meet? What was the thinking behind 2Hollis’ refusal to answer the Nettspend question? Is there something going on behind the scenes? Although they make different music for different types of people, it is intriguing to look at the similarity of their data and wonder what the future has in store for them.
