EsDeeKid's New Fame

If you’ve been on the rap side of the internet at all the past few weeks, it has been impossible to avoid seeing Liverpool artist EsDeeKid. We here at Sadprt are certainly no strangers to EsDee and Tino even reviewed his album, the current most daily streamed rap album on Spotify, “Rebel.” That was back in June, when EsDeeKid had a fraction of the attention he does now. What has this explosion in popularity entailed for the young Scouse lad?

Let’s get the ridiculous one out of the way even though it has probably done more for his career than you’d think. There is a running joke that, behind the mask, EsDeeKid is actually American actor Timothée Chalamet. This “rumor” has enabled EsDeeKid to reach corners of the internet and fandoms that never would have been possible without this tie to the actor who is currently in the thick of a press tour. Stupid? Yes, but helpful? Also yes.

EsDeeKid’s Spotify currently sits at more than 8 million monthly listeners. He has since surpassed other huge “underground” artists such as Ken Carson, 2hollis, Fakemink and more. As of right now, his most streamed song, “Phantom,” has reached an impressive 76 million Spotify streams. As mentioned before, his 2025 debut album “Rebel” is the most daily streamed rap album on the platform right now. Streams can certainly be inflated with bots, but this is all organic; EsDeeKid has forced everyone to pay attention.

Public figures are currently clamoring to work with or meet the rapper all while he opens on Yung Lean’s FOREVER YUNG tour. He has recently been seen with Osamason, Yeat, SINN6R and more. Anthony Fantano also reviewed “Rebel” last week and gave it a 6/10. Regardless of the score, Fantano covering the album at all is a symbol of EsDeeKid’s newfound fame.

The proof lies in EsDeeKid’s concerts, he just sold out his North America + Australia tour. The videos from his shows have been insane and fans have been dying to get their hands on tickets. EsDeeKid’s rise has been astronomical and perhaps a little surprising. How has this kid from the United Kingdom gotten so popular in the states? There are a multitude of factors, but when it comes down to it, he is incredibly skilled at rapping and has a cool, mysterious image that makes people want to check him out for themselves.
