Outstanding: EP Review

Sep 4, 2025

Up until late 2024, Boolymon was best known as a frequent producer for artists like Osamason, Okaymar, and 1oneam. His distinctive production style gave his name weight in the underground scene, but since launching his career as an artist last November, many agree he brings the same enigmatic energy from his production into his vocal work.

Boolymon has quickly built a polarizing image through “mumble-maxxing” and sometimes shocking lyrics, often expressing disdain toward the elite and Jewish people. Whether these recurring themes stem from humor or sincerity remains unclear, but they are prevalent enough to shape the overall vibe of his music. You can hear him touch on these subjects in his EP Outstanding, on songs like “Kookoo,” “Megalodon,” and “Chatter Box.”

Beyond that, Outstanding serves as a canvas for Booly to showcase his latent abilities. Each track feels innovative and engaging, from the production to the mixing to the writing. The EP captures the same authenticity and vibrancy you’d find in the early work of your favorite artists before they shifted into a more mainstream-friendly style (Yeat, for example). This quality gives the project strong replay value.

Songs like “New Day” and “Sacrifices” stand out for their relatable themes of loyalty, regret, prudence, and gratitude, highlighting Booly’s authenticity as an artist.

Overall, while Boolymon will likely remain a controversial figure in contemporary rap, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him grow into something special. In my opinion, he already shares qualities with some of the greats, but only time will tell.
