The Maxon Margiela Interview (2024)

Today I bring you an interview with the #healthy kid himself. You may know him as the one who pours syrup with sum shit that came from Europe; the one and only Maxon Margiela. We sat down with Maxon (over DM) in an interview that took place over the span of 17 hours (we started the interview at 8pm and both fell asleep, the interview was finished the following afternoon).
In the beginning, tensions were high. This was my first DM interview with an artist and I was also doing homework on my phone at the same time. Not only that but I was also at someone else's house and trying to pay attention to them as much as possible in an attempt to not appear rude.
At 7:59 PM I got the text, "Yo." This operation I was about to embark on wit Maxon was not for the faint of heart.
I first asked Maxon what his day was like and how it went. This is called establishing rapport for all of you non-journalists. He told me his day was "ight" and that most of it was just a "long ass drive" to Atlanta. I asked him if he drove himself or if someone else drove him to which he replied "Nah twin I wasn't driving I had a ride." Hell yeah.
Now the real question, what does it mean to be #healthy? His answer was an almost immediate "Smoke hella broccoli" "Be fly while doin it." Maxon is definitely a man of his word and #healthy seems to be his code of ethics, a moral compass of sorts.
Now a sort of abstract question, if you're a healthy KID, what does it take to be a healthy MAN? Maxon took a little to reply but ultimately concurred with "Be an og I guess." I told him his answer was wise and he quickly responded, "Type."
Who else in the underground would you consider to be a healthy kid and who would be a healthy man (og status)?
"I fw Brennan he be doin his shi also all my orlando boys go tap in"
"Og status idk bra but like my idols like Kodak, future, speakerknockers, thug, shi like that"
"Kanye a big inspiration like career wise same wit Pharrell"
Now I had some common ground with Maxon. Kanye is one of my big inspirations and I had recently been sh*t on by our followers for saying I liked Brennan Jones. I am also from Florida but a few hours south of Orlando where Maxon is from.
Throughout the years, I have noticed an unmatched loyalty and supportiveness amongst underground artists from Florida-such as Maxon or Brennan. I asked him what he thinks separates Floridian artists like himself from the rest.
"Idk Florida like a boiling pot of people it's mad culture out here"
"I been here my whole life born n raised in Orlando"
I have asked many artists from Florida a question like this and they all say something similar. I 100% agree and I understand their loyalty to the state, there is nowhere else in the U.S. like it.
Which of the theme parks (in Orlando) was ur fav growing up?
"Shi I really didn't go too much honestly naybe universal I'd say I've been there more shi got some cool shi"
I agreed with this as well.
Where did you find a tank for the tank davis video? Was that a family heirloom or something?
Mr. Margiela only replied with a single "🤫" emoji. I decided to leave it at that, he truly is a man shrouded in mystery.
I asked Maxon what his favorite movies are right now:
"Sh*t bra I dead don't be watching too many movies no more I fw cartoons tho always watching South Park."
I could tell South Park was something that he was passionate about; he had a Kenny profile picture and when I asked him his favorite episode I received a response that clearly evoked enthusiasm. It felt like Maxon had been dying to talk about South Park for weeks.
"When cartman takes a pic of Kenny doing a headstand in his jacket so his butt looks like his face then plastered it everywhere as a missing kid and it was so funny to cartman that he lost his ability to laugh anymore"
Upon the genuineness of this response, I recommended he watch the documentary 6 Days to Air which takes a look into the stressful creation of a single South Park episode.
I had one last question for Maxon Margiela:
What kind of things have you learned over the course of your career so far? How have you or your music changed since you first started?
"lon think I changed too much I'm still wrapping my head round ts (this shit) but definitely learned a few things always keep some eyes on the back of yo head. Music wise idk l'd say I'm always changing always evolving ion wan nun my songs to sound like the same song"
I thanked Maxon for his time and allowed him a chance to leave one last message.
"Stay fly stay high and stream #healthy"
If you want to be healthy just like Maxon I recommend following this advice to a T. I felt this was a pretty fruitful interview and I always enjoy speaking to a fellow flawda jit.
I have been following Maxon's career a lot this year and am excited to see what he achieves in the distant future. Stay rich, blessed, and #healthy.
