Favorites: Bassvictim (Interview)

Bassvictim are one of the coolest acts in music. Despite bursting onto the scene in 2025 with their most explosive year yet, they’ve remained somewhat elusive. That’s exactly why I wanted to have them on, to learn more about their lives outside of music. 

This conversation was conducted via an iMessage group chat, with the members, Maria and Ike, sending their answers as text messages (Quotes are given exactly as written.) They’ve also shared parts of their camera rolls with me, which will be scattered throughout the article. 

This is Bassvictim and these are their favorite things:

Conspiracy Theory:

Ike: “That jews run the world. Im jewish so it makes me feel special”

Maria: ”Ancient aliens, I always thought and will always think it’s true and no one will convince me it’s not don’t even try coz u just won’t”

European Country:

I: “Any of the scandinavian ones.”

M: “Poland obviously”

Pop Star:

I: “Does avicii count?”

M: “Lana del rey, the only pop star I went to see live lol, her fans sucked tho, lots of bow haired, white dress girls who started acting like roadmen and beef me as soon as I tried to squeeze through to get to my friend. I also actually had to piss in a cup coz those sorry bitches weren’t letting me go out.”

Childhood TV Show:

I: “Spongebob Squarepants, i feel like it's very true to life. I still have new experiences which i hadn't realized spongebob prepared me for. I also love the mollusk by ween.”

M: “Powerpuff girls when I was little. Then at like 11 (still counts as childhood??) I got so into Naruto I would skip classes just to watch it, and had to have start therapy coz I got so severely depressed that I can’t live in that world LMAO”

Non Social Media App:

I: “Notes app. I am answering these questions in my notes app.”

M: “Voice memo, what I would do without u”

Candle Scent:

I: “I dont use scented candles, i recently discovered the concept of a simmering pot for scenting a house though.”

M: “I kinda forget about the existence of scented candles. But if we talking scents that burn I’d say Tibetan incense is new fav.”

American City:

I: “either Charlottesville, VA or Sarasota, FL”

M: “I’m writing this on a plane to LA, where I’m going for the first time just for fun, with no shows to play or no ex to please (his mum lives there, love her tho). I think for that month it’ll be my fav city, but ask me when I have more experience in American cityology, I haven’t been to most of them for longer than 1 day lol”

Energy Drink:

I: “White monster.”

M: “I can’t really drink caffeine but I guess peach monster”

Rapper:

I: “Probably kanye.”

M: “Idk probably chief keef”

Underrated Emotion:

I: “Surprise. I always want to be surprised.”

M: “Ike’s answer is so good so I’m stealing it.”
